Following The Society of Food Hygiene and Technology’s (SOFHT) Annual General Meeting and the end of Fiona Kibby’s term as Chair, Peter Littleton, Technical Director at Christeyns Food Hygiene UK, has been appointed as the new Chair of SOFHT, a post he will hold for the next two years. He assumes this role in addition to his Council duties as Training Services Director for the Society.
Ian Booth, Global Vice President Food Safety and Quality at Martin-Brower UK Ltd, is the society’s new Vice Chair and Company Secretary.
Three new board directors have also been appointed, to strengthen SOFHT’s technical resource available to members: Paul Davidson, Quality Management Director, EU at Tate & Lyle Sugars; Fiona Fleming, Group Technical Hygiene Manager at Two Sisters Food Group; and Amanda Holland, Key Account Manager at Diversey UK.
SOFHT is a voluntary organisation that was set up in 1979 by a group of professionals to represent the interests and views of everyone involved in food hygiene across all disciplines.
Membership includes a cross-section of people from food organisations and their suppliers, bringing together food manufacturers, retailers, caterers, environmental health officers, industry consultants, research organisations, training bodies and students.
Commenting on his appointment, Peter Littleton said: “I am honoured to take over the position of Chair of a Society with which I have been involved for many years – especially at this time of challenge within our industry where supporting our members with valuable and trusted information, training and breakfast clubs is critical. This ensures that everyone can stay connected and up to date with technological and operational developments with respect to the safe production of food and beverages”.
“I am grateful for the continued support of all SOFHT Council Directors, and I am delighted to welcome on board three new members: Paul Davidson, Fiona Fleming and Amanda Holland.”
