Improve is the sector skills council for food and drink manufacturing in the UK . An employer-led organisation, Improve's vision is to provide ‘world class skills for a world class sector', to help employers achieve world class productivity and higher profits through skills.
The food and drink sector is the largest within UK manufacturing, and is worth £74 billion annually, and employs 500,000 people in the UK . Improve has:
- Delivered a Sector Skills Agreement and Skills Action Plan for the food and drink manufacturing industry.
- Developed new qualifications and standards to meet industry needs as part of the qualifications reform.
- Launched an employer led National Skills Academy .
