SOFHT Awards 2010
Following the success of the last six years of the SOFHT Awards, it is now time for you to be involved and nominate those people or companies who you feel deserve to be recognised for the SOFHT Awards 2010.
The SOFHT Awards recognises and celebrates the excellence within the food industry and its associated industries. Do you know of a new product, special person or company who deserves recognition?
The Awards will be judged by a panel of experienced food industry professionals from the Society’s membership. The winners will be announced at the industry’s prestigious SOFHT Luncheon which will be held on Thursday 18 November 2010 at The Savoy Hotel, Strand, London WC2R 0EU.
You are invited to submit more than one nomination for either your own product / personnel / company or nominate others.
Entry to the SOFHT Awards is free and nominations are welcome from all disciplines within the food industry and its suppliers.

Nominations for The Most Innovative SOFHTe Scheme member must explain why they are different/better; explain features of their organisation and the benefits gained from membership of the scheme. The judges will also take into account the overall approach to achieving certification, number of non-conformances raised during the assessment process etc

This broad category covers any aspect of food, service or equipment, and is designed to enable any company in the food industry, or supplying/servicing the food industry, to participate.
The Society wishes to receive nominations for a product, or service, or item of equipment that has delivered an innovative product, and/or approach, and/or system to the industry. The product should be identifiably different to any existing product in its category or area of activity, providing a new experience and/or additional benefits to existing and/or new customers.
The product must be readily available in the market and have proven performance with endorsements from at least two food industry customers.

Company of the Year

This category is for companies that have markedly and consistently produced an outstanding performance in their area/sector over the year, and demonstrated one or more of the following:
- A marked, measurable, and consistent improvement in standards over the year;
- Successfully launched the most exciting and/or novel range of new products or service (food, service equipment etc);
- Successfully launched the most exciting and/or novel range of packaging.
There are two awards in this category, which are:
- A company with less than 100 employees;
- A company with more than 100 employees.

This category is designed to find a person currently active in the food industry, who is providing training in a manner that provides one or more of the following:
- An innovative programme, providing a novel approach to an existing topic;
- An exceptional training capability recognised by peers and trainees;
- A consistent high level of delivery;
The award is for someone who provides training in a manner over and above the expected standard or contracted service levels.
At least two references to be provided to support the application.

This category is for recognition of companies who provide a training service to the food industry, whether or not this is providing formal qualifications or to recognised and established standards. Nominated companies should:
- Provide a consistently high calibre of training;
- and/or Introduce a novel training system or approach for training.
The award will be awarded to a company considered to be performing over and above the established levels, and is demonstrably improving training provisions for the food industry.
At least two references to be provided to support application.

This category is designed to find a person who is currently active in the food industry, and who is providing an exceptional auditing/technical service and expertise.
The Society wishes to receive nominations for persons who provide their service and expertise in a manner that is over and above the expected standard or contracted service levels.
At least two references to be provided to support application.

This category is for a company or person who has made a significant contribution to the food industry, with particular emphasis on Food Safety and/or Food Hygiene and/or Food Technology.
The winner will be from any area of the food industry - manufacturing, retailing, service provision, etc.
It is anticipated that the contribution will have been evident over a number of years, although any specific, significant, and major contributions over the previous 12 months will be considered.
Entry Rules
- All nominations must use the form provided and will be judged on the 100 word description provided.
- All nominations will be acknowledged within one week of the closing date.
- It is expected that the finalists will attend the SOFHT Luncheon, at their own expense or that of their nominator.
- The judges’ decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- The organisers reserve the right to withdraw an award at any time if, in their opinion, the actions of the recipient or winning product threaten the integrity of the SOFHT Award.
