Position: Technical Services Leader
Function: Operations
Location: London - Thames Refinery
Responsibilities:
The underlying aim of the role is to initiate quality improvements within Tate & Lyle Sugars, Europe (TALSE) using experience gained in the food industry to define best practice and therefore anticipate our customers' requirements. A key aspect of this role is developing and embedding the Customer Driven Quality “CDQ” initiative within the organisation, and the jobholder will be expected to work closely with senior personnel from a wide range of functions within TALSE and our customers.

- To support the Retail sales teams by providing accurate information and data to Customers on request
- Provide a technical link between the Company and our Customers and maintain our entries of Retail Customers bespoke IT systems (Redsky, Hamilton Grant etc)
- Provide information relating to our products, their use, allergen status and company position statements as required by our Retail & Food service customers
- Manage the company's Sensory Analysis programme and ensure that a trained panel is available at all times
- Act as the team's key contact in the NPD process
- Work with other functions to embed “CDQ” principles throughout the Company, and with key customers.
- Benchmark TALSE against food industry best practice and drive improvements throughout the Company to enhance our customer's perception of TALSE
- Manage the SQA programme ensuring close liaison with Purchasing & Marketing Depts, to ensure suppliers are approved prior to contracts being placed
- Ensure all artworks comply with current legislation, using appropriate external experts when necessary
Qualifications:
- Graduate in food science or related subject.
- Experience of customer interface, either as a supplier to industry or retailers
- Experience in Sensory Analysis & Legal requirements
- Exposure to food industry best practice and the ability to communicate this to a wide audience
- Excellent knowledge of quality systems, and their implementation
- Commitment to achieving the highest possible quality standards
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence people who may have conflicting priorities
