Pret A Manger, the fresh food and coffee shop chain, has joined The Society of Food Hygiene & Technology (SOFHT) as a Supporting Company Member.
Pret A Manger was founded in the UK in 1986 and now has shops internationally, in 11 different countries. Pret’s sandwiches, salads and wraps are handmade fresh each day in every shop’s on-site kitchen using carefully sourced ingredients.
Supporting Company Membership (SCM) was set up by SOFHT in 2003 as part of a major drive to enlist the support of larger organisations within the food manufacturing, retailing and related industries.
SCM gives businesses access to a range of services from SOFHT such as market updates in food safety, training, seminars and events as well as the opportunity to network with industry colleagues. In turn, membership of high-profile companies such as Pret A Manger enhances SOFHT’s reputation as ‘the voice of food safety and food hygiene’.
Kirsten Lawton, UK Head of Safety at Pret A Manger said:
‘SOFHT has an outstanding reputation in the food manufacturing and retailing industry. Their work is integral, not only to Pret, but also to our customers, and throughout our supply chain. Becoming a Supporting Company Member demonstrates our commitment to strive for high standards across our business. We look forward to working closely with the organisation and its members over the coming months.’
